Police arrested Saakashvili late on the evening of 8 December and taken to the detention center of the SBU.

On December 11 the Pechersky regional court of Kiev released Saakashvili unconditionally. The court denied the prosecutors the petition about election of a measure of restraint in the form of a round-the-clock house arrest. Saakashvili is accused of assisting a criminal group under article 256 of the Penal code. He faces from 3 to 5 years behind bars.

Preliminary results of the examination confirmed the voices of Saakashvili and Kurchenko on audio and video footage obtained in the investigation of criminal proceedings.
