Ukraine is forced to buy gas from Russia, but the price will be lower than the European – KOBOLEV
In 2018, after two years, Ukraine will buy directly from Russia 4-5 billion cubic meters of gas. Its price will be lower than from European suppliers.
This broadcast “5 channel” said the head of “Naftogaz of Ukraine” Andriy KOBOLEV. He explained that to buy gas from Russia forced Ukraine under a previously signed contract, as well as following the decision of the Stockholm arbitration Tribunal, which reduced the required volume purchases, compared to the figure in the contract, ten times. At the same time, the price of Russian gas will be beneficial.
“The buying decision is both logical and mandatory. The minimum amount that we need to take on the new contract is four billion cubic meters (per year). The price on both the four and five (billion cubic meters) – below the price that we now receive from the European direction”, – said Kobolyev.
The annual need of Ukraine for imported gas in 2018 is about 10 billion cubic meters. That is, half of them might be from Russia.
Previously, the government reacted to the statement of “Naftogaz” plans to buy gas in Russia.
