Ministry of culture called the chapel near the ruins of the tithe Church is illegal and initiates a lawsuit
The Ministry of culture initiates a lawsuit because the illegal construction of the chapel of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the Moscow Patriarchate on the territory of the National Museum of history of Ukraine near the Foundation of the tithe Church in Kiev.
“Illegal construction – small architectural form located on the land of valuable territories and may lead to damage of cultural heritage objects – a reminder of national importance in the protected (buffer zone of the UNESCO world heritage “Kiev: Hagia Sophia and the surrounding monastic buildings, Kiev-Pechersk Lavra” city of Vladimir – Detinets ancient Kyiv with the foundations of the tithe Church (Church of the assumption of the blessed virgin Mary) from V to IX century”, – noted in the Ministry of culture.
Church of the IAF belongs to the religious community of the tithes of the Church of the Nativity of the blessed virgin of UOC-MP. The only legal user of the land is the national Museum of history of Ukraine.
“The legal rights of NMU, as tenant, violated the illegal actions of the religious community of the UOC. According to paragraph a) of part 1 of article 96 of the Land code of Ukraine, the land user is obliged to ensure the use of land for the intended purpose. According to claim 2.1 of the Charter, NMI is a legal entity, and in accordance with paragraph 2.6 of the Charter, the Museum has the right to be a plaintiff in court,” – noted in the Ministry of culture.

The Ministry said that they will take part in the proceedings and will re-direct to law enforcement of treatment to protect the monument of national significance “City of Volodymyr, the dytynets of the ancient Kyiv with the foundations of the tithe Church (Church of the assumption of the blessed virgin Mary) from V to IX century, IX-XIII centuries” between the streets of Vladimir, Bolshaya Zhitomirskaya and slopes Starokievskaya mountain in Kiev.
Remind, hundreds of Kyivans gathered on 3 February near the remains of the foundations of the tithe Church in Kiev. They wanted to demolish the chapel of the UOC-MP.
The tithe Church was built by Prince Vladimir in Kiev in 989-996 years. It is considered the first stone Church of Kievan Rus. The building was destroyed in 1240-M. it is still unknown what form was this temple.
