The UN peacekeeping mission in the Donbas, is ready to take part in Sweden and three other countries

Sweden agreed to participate in the UN peacekeeping mission in the occupied Donbass, provided that this will not mind the West and Russia.

This was during the Munich security conference on Saturday, February 17, said the Minister of defence of Sweden Peter Holquist, reports Reuters.

“If we see the context and if we see that this mission can help, then we’re open for this. We’re not there yet, but it’s something positive,” the Minister said.

Note that on Saturday, officials and special US representative for Ukraine Kurt Volker was presented with a report on the peacekeeping mission in the Donbas. The document was prepared by order of the former head of NATO, Anders Fogh Rasmussen, who is now the adviser of the President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko. The report says that Sweden, which is not a NATO member, may be offered to the peacekeeping mission, as a leading country (the U.S. representative).

In the report it was proposed to attach to the air forces of Ukraine, about 20 thousand soldiers from countries not members of NATO, and 4 thousand policemen, which will help to resolve the crisis in Ukraine.

President Petro Poroshenko said that Ukraine is ready to discuss the stages of implementation of the UN peacekeeping mission and the list of countries that will participate.

Previously, their possible participation in the peacekeeping mission in the Donbass, said Germany, Austria and Belarus (as a representative of Russia).

Ukraine wants peacekeepers were throughout the occupied territory, and now uncontrolled border between Russia and Donbass. Russia also wants the peacekeepers were only on the line of contact.

Recall, the war in the Donbass, which began in the spring of 2014, over the past four years has claimed the lives of more than 10 thousand people. Now the situation in the East of Ukraine monitoring mission of the OSCE consisting of more than 700 unarmed civilian observers. However, this does not reduce voltage.
