More than 130 Russian figures of science and culture signed a petition demanding the release of Ukrainian political prisoner Olena Sentsov.
The text of the appeal published on the website of the popular scientific newspaper “Troitsky variant”.

Signed by him, in particular Nobel prize winner for literature Svetlana Aleksievich, writer Lyudmila Ulitskaya, the poet Lev Oborin, journalist Sergei Parkhomenko, a linguist Alexei Gippius, literary critic Alexander Lavrov.
“We want to send Sentsov in his native Ukraine. The death of Oleg Sentsov will be a disgrace for Russia and will forever stain those who could be saved, but not saved”, – is spoken in circulation.
The signatories appealed to the participants of the St. Petersburg economic forum, calling to support their statement.

He was accused in Russia of preparing to commit terrorist acts in Simferopol, Sevastopol and Yalta. May 14, 2018 Sentsov announced an indefinite hunger strike. The only condition for termination is the release of all Ukrainian political prisoners who are on the territory of the Russian Federation.

In 2014, after annexation of the Crimea Oleg Sentsov detained on the Peninsula, accused of terrorism, were taken to Russia, where he was sentenced to 20 years in prison. After sitting there for two years, last week Oleg Sentsov was on a hunger strike and stated that it will stop, when the Russian authorities released all political prisoners in Ukraine, according to his calculations is 64 people.
