This was stated by the President of the European Council, Donald Tusk, in an interview with Polish TV channel tvn24, commenting on the Ukrainian amendment in the law on the Institute of national remembrance in Poland.
“It’s not about not telling the truth because only the truth can be a Foundation for reconciliation. In the interests of the Warsaw and Kyiv, poles and Ukrainians, the need for a speedy construction of the Foundation of the Association, not conflict,” – said Tusk.

He believes that the so-called Ukrainian amendment in the law on INP Poland is “unreasonable” approach, because with this position, Poland is unlikely to achieve something. “Likely to be the reaction of the other side, and in the end we will fight,” – said Tusk.
Also, the President of the European Council recalled that Poland at the time was a difficult path of historical reconciliation with Germany, and it required a lot of efforts from ordinary people, churches, government. “We need relations with Ukraine, but the current situation cannot be compared with the process of Polish-German combination”, – he stressed.
