The fall in circulation will be a new 20-hryvnia banknote.
National Bank presented the new design and the protection of the banknotes nominal value of 20 hryvnias. They will enter into circulation on 25 September.
According to international standards, the banknotes need to be updated periodically in order to minimize or completely eliminate attempts at fraud to counterfeit money.
“This is the third banknote in the new banknote series of the national currency. She continues to update the nominal number of banknotes of the previous sample, started the National Bank in 2014 to improve the reliability of the hryvnia,” – said the Director of the Department of monetary circulation of the NBU Victor Savenko.
Update banknotes of hryvnia the national Bank began with banknotes 100 UAH sample 2014 (in circulation from March of 2015) and 500 hryvnia of 2015 (in circulation from April 2016). They operate in parallel, and the old gradually withdraw from circulation.

The national Bank also began the process of replacing the banknotes of the small denomination coins. In particular, on 27 April this year, appeared in circulation coins of 1 and 2 hryvnia silver. Coins of 5 and 10 hryvnias will put into circulation in 2019 and 2020 (the exact date still do not know). The regulator noted that especially to withdraw paper notes will not. Just stop printing them, and will not replenish their cash turnover. New coins will operate in parallel with the paper currency of the old sample.
In Ukraine, now in circulation are banknotes with a nominal value of 1, 2, 5, 10, 20, 50, 100, 200 and 500 hryvnia; the flip of a coin in nominal value 1 and 2 hryvnia; small coins with a nominal value of 1, 2, 5, 10, 25, 50 cents. Coins of 1, 2, 5 and 25 cents ceased to be minted.
