Militants “DNR” decided during the events dedicated to the holidays, to use together with the name of the city Donetsk’s old Soviet name Stalino.
The relevant “decree” was signed by the leader of “DNR” Denis Pushilin.
“It is hereby resolved to establish the symbol of the city of Donetsk, the name “city of Stalin”, used along with the name “Donetsk city” during the Republican and city events dedicated to memorable dates in the history of the “DNR” and the city of Donetsk, connected with the great Patriotic war”, – stated in the text of the decree.
As noted, the name “Stalin” will be used on may 9 – Victory Day, June 22 – Day of memory and grief, September 8 – Day of liberation of Donbass.
The city was named Stalino in 1924 in honor of Lenin. “The Executive Committee believes that the symbol that characterizes our great leader comrade. Lenin – will “Steel” and decided to call the town of Yuzovka – Stalin city”, – stated in the document of the Plenum Yuzovsky Executive Committee of the district from March 8, 1924.
We will remind, earlier fighters of “LNR” has decided to rename the Luhansk on special occasions. Along with the name of the Lugansk Soviet and used the name of Voroshilovgrad.
