The situation around the “PrivatBank” has affected the hryvnia exchange rate – a night after news of the nationalization of Ukraine’s largest Bank people rushed to gut the ATM and carry the hryvnia in exchange. The dollar has made a vertical takeoff. And earlier in the week, barely propped up a terrible mark in 28 UAH.
However, due to the upcoming winter holidays taken from the accounts of the hryvnia often walked to the shops and on bazaars instead of buying dollars. So today – almost subsided. The dollar is worth in exchange of 27.25 Kiev UAH, Euro 28,50 UAH. This is stated in the plot of TSN.Week.
Financial analyst Vitaly Shapran, last week said that the hryvnia will fall. And so it happened. However, the fall exceeded the forecast by as much as 10 cents.
“I believe that the hryvnia will celebrate the New year with a rate of 27 hryvnia for one dollar. We do not expect any surprises in anticipation of the holidays. Recall that the Verkhovna Rada has canceled taxes (2% fee to the Pension Fund) for purchase of foreign currency. This will affect the reduction of the difference between the buying and selling and have a positive impact on the exchange rate”, – predicts Vitaly Shapran.
“Next week the dollar will be worth a maximum 27,40 hryvnia. Because exporters are keeping a low profile and have the currency less than a month ago”, – says Elena Korobkova of the Association of banks.
She says the lack of dollars is not bad news for the hryvnia before the holidays.
“On the contrary. We have fulfilled all major conditions of the IMF and we expect a positive decision for tranche. In the long term, the hryvnia will be strengthened”, – predicts Korobkova.

Earlier in the week, the dollar rose and was about 28 USD. The Verkhovna Rada has canceled taxes when buying foreign currency that will affect the reduction of the difference between the buying and selling. The hryvnia should be strengthened.
