The Prosecutor General’s office explained the failure to arrest Yanukovych
The General Prosecutor of the Russian Federation refused to Ukraine in the temporary detention of Viktor Yanukovych, because he believes the case against him was politically motivated persecution. This was stated by the official representative of Department Alexander Kurennoy.
According to him, in 2015-2016, the GPU has turned to Russia with requests for the detention of Yanukovych, Moscow, however, interpreted them as formal charges, which hides the political persecution. Wherein RF refers to the legality of such reasons according to the 3rd article of the European Convention on extradition of suspects of a crime. Kurennoy says that Kiev was sent a written explanation in this regard.
Earlier, former Prime Minister of Ukraine Mykola Azarov and former head of the presidential administration Andrey Klyuev admitted his guilt for the events of 2014. “All of us who were close with Viktor Yanukovych, to a certain extent to blame,” – said Klyuyev in an interview with the Russian TV channel TVC. But Azarov said that “the only serious error – failed to strictly put to Yanukovych the question of the dispersal of the gang that organized the “coup”.
