Klimkin: conflict in Europe have one thing in common – the participation in them of Russia
Events of the past decade has demonstrated that we can not continue to ignore conflicts in Europe and to neglect their lessons.
This was stated by Minister of foreign Affairs of Ukraine Pavlo Klimkin during an open debate on the issue of conflicts in Europe in the UN security Council.
“We need to bring to the attention of the UN Security Council for issues of European security,” – said Klimkin.
The head of the Ukrainian foreign Ministry stressed that the unresolved conflicts on the European continent have one thing in common – active participation of the Russian Federation, which uses the conflict situation in their geopolitical interests.
Klimkin noted that if aggression is not countered, then “every “frozen” conflict will become active, and the aggressor will continue to create new threats and challenges to stability.”
The Minister of foreign Affairs of Ukraine addressed the issue of Russian aggression against Ukraine. He stressed that the Russian Federation blatantly violated the Budapest Memorandum of 1994 and three years ago launched a hybrid war against Ukraine.
“Such actions, – continued the Minister – led to the fact that the European security system, which was considered one of the most stable, are now under threat…”.

We will remind that earlier the Minister of foreign Affairs of Ukraine Pavlo Klimkin stressed the need to reform the work of the UN Security Council to prevent abuse of the right of veto.
“The Security Council must be able to respond effectively to conflicts regardless of the potential presence of a state party to the conflict as a permanent member of the UN security Council,” – said the Ukrainian Minister.
