Canada may expand sanctions against Russia because of the support Assad – Trudeau
Russia’s support of the regime of Bashar al-Assad in Syria, which has carried out a chemical attack against its own people, encourages the international community to strengthen sanctions against the Kremlin.
This was stated by Prime Minister of Canada Justin Trudeau, writes UKRINFORM.
“We should put Russia aware of its responsibility for the bloody actions of the Assad regime last week. Therefore, we are always open to cooperation with our friends, allies and partners for the sake of sending Russia the message through sanctions and other measures,” said Trudeau.
According to him, “countries that supported the Assad regime, a part of the responsibility for the chemical attacks on civilians.”
In his view, Assad compromised and can no longer be part of the political solution to the crisis in the country.
