The mayor of Chernivtsi Alex Kaspruk urged the Parliament to appoint a special election of the city Council and mayor.
About this Kaspruk said from the rostrum of the city Council at the beginning of the regular session, UNIAN reports.
Therefore, the appropriate treatment on the announcement of early elections of Chernivtsi city Council he has already sent to the Parliament.
“I am convinced that both should take place elections of the mayor. Liability for the year lost to the city opportunities, distrust of Chernivtsi, a betrayal of the Testament of our glorious predecessors needs to be shared. Have the courage and honor to admit it and to go on elections”, – said the mayor of Chernivtsi.
According to him, the city Council more than a year may elect the Secretary and to increase their Executive Committee. Kaspruk believes that the parliamentary majority was trying to disrupt the balance between the powers of the city Council, Executive bodies of city Council and the mayor, and it “paralyzes the activities of the local self-government.”
In addition, the mayor noted that the city Council for a long time does not make decisions on the allocation of money from the budget.
“The funds blocked in the accounts, not repaired roads, stopped work on construction of kindergartens, utilities, street B. Hmelnitskogo, not purchased much-needed medical equipment, not funded by social programs under the threat of further operation of the airport, not buying new trolley buses”, – said the mayor.
According to the head of the city, the last straw was the failure promptly to provide funds to utilities, which could lead to “a serious limitation of the city’s water and public transport”.
