Paruby signed laws banning St. George ribbons and quotas on Ukrainian television
Friday, may 26, the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Andriy paruby signed the law “On amendments to the Code of Ukraine on administrative offences regarding the prohibition of production and promotion of St. George (guards) ribbon” and the law “On amendments to some laws of Ukraine concerning the language of audiovisual (electronic) mass media (No. 5313).

The laws were signed at the session hall of the Parliament after the opening plenary session.
Recall, the Verkhovna Rada on 16 may passed a law banning the production and promotion of St. George (guards) ribbon. So, for the demonstration of the tapes or the image will now be imposed a fine in the amount from 50 to 150 non-taxable minimum incomes.

For repeated violation of the law envisages a fine in the amount from 150 to 300 non-taxable minimum incomes of citizens or administrative arrest for up to 15 days with confiscation of the tape or objects containing images.
Also on may 23, the Verkhovna Rada adopted the law on the number of TV programs and films in Ukrainian. The quota is 75% for national TV and 60% for local.
The President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko has hinted that he will sign both bills.
We will remind, earlier it was reported that the Parliament may adopt a law providing for the punishment of ISPs for failing to block prohibited in Ukraine Russian sites.
