Kyiv city Council has accepted for consideration the petition against the appearance of the Avenue Shukhevych
Kyiv city Council took up for consideration the e-petition “Ukrainians against the renaming of Vatutina Avenue in Kyiv.” This initiative scored a set number of votes, the press service of the local authority.
As at the time of the decision, the petition has received more than 10.1 thousand electronic signatures in the required 10 thousand. “The Deputy mayor – Secretary of Kyiv city Council Volodymyr Prokopiv has instructed the standing Commission KMR for culture, tourism and information policy, the standing Committee of KMR on issues of local self-government, regional and international relations, as well as the Executive body of Kyiv city Council (KCSA) to consider the e-petition in the prescribed manner,” reads the official statement on this issue.
As reported, on June 1, the city Council renamed the Avenue General Vatutin Avenue Roman Shukhevych. But the author of the petition of Elena Berezhnaya insists on the need to return to the previous name.
In July the district administrative court postponed consideration of the claim to the city Council two public organizations regarding the renaming of prospect Vatutina on Shukhevych in August.
