This is the first rate hike in the US over the past six months. In previous times it was increased in June of this year. In 2018, the fed is planning three more times to raise interest rates. The growth forecast of U.S. GDP in 2018, was increased from 2.1% to 2.5%.
The first rate hike in the US after a long break took place in December 2015. Until 2015, the fed raised rates in 2006.
