Poroshenko approved the plan of military exercises with the participation of the armed forces and foreign fighters

President Petro Poroshenko approved the “Plan of carrying out multinational doctrines with participation of divisions of Armed Forces of Ukraine on the territory of Ukraine and their participation in multinational doctrines outside of Ukraine in 2018 and on the admission of divisions of armed forces of other States on the territory of Ukraine in 2018 to participate in multinational military exercises”.

The corresponding presidential decree was published by his press service on the official website.

As noted, Poroshenko also signed a law “On approving the decision of the President of Ukraine on the admission of divisions of armed forces of other States on the territory of Ukraine in 2018 to participate in multinational exercises“.

According to the documents, in Ukraine this year it is planned to hold a series of multinational exercises for training units of the Armed Forces: the Ukrainian-American exercises “Rapid Trident – 2018”, the Ukrainian-American exercises “sea breeze – 2018”, the multinational exercise “Bright Avalanche – 2018”, the multinational exercises “clear sky – 2018” and the Ukrainian-Romanian exercise “Riverian – 2018”.

“The implementation of the provisions of the Act and Decree will ensure the fulfillment of tasks in the field of security and defense in the overall context of the implementation of priority of foreign policy of the state, will increase the efficiency of national programmes for the development of its own Armed Forces and commitments of our state participating in the program “Partnership for peace”, as well as Ukraine’s obligations as a state member to the Agreement among States parties North Atlantic Treaty and other States participating in the program “Partnership for peace” regarding the status of their armed forces, Additional and further additional protocols to this Agreement, agreed to be binding by the Verkhovna Rada. Also the exercises would provide an opportunity to increase financial revenue to the national economy through the provision of appropriate goods, works, services for departments of other States,” – said Poroshenko.

Separately it is reported that the responsibility for the preparation and conduct of this year’s multinational military exercises on the territory of Ukraine and participation of Ukrainian armed forces units in multinational military exercises abroad rests with the Minister of defence of Ukraine Stepan Poltorak.

Note that the decree and the law come into force from the date of publication.

Earlier, the administration of U.S. President Donald trump approved the sale of lethal weapons to Ukraine. The US defence budget provides for Ukraine assistance in the amount of $ 350 million.
