According to the President, with the help of the pipeline Russia will try to inflict serious losses to the state.
President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko called the Russian gas pipeline “Nord stream-2” unprofitable and Germany offered an alternative.
He stated this in an interview with German newspaper Handelsblatt.
“Russia is a very unreliable partner, particularly in the energy sector”, – said Poroshenko.
According to the Ukrainian President, “Nord stream-2” is completely “political project, which is financed by Russia”.
“Sorry for the harsh words, but the “Nord stream-2″ is a political bribe for loyalty to Russia to organize an economic and energy blockade against Ukraine and cause us heavy damage. The project has no economic justification,” he said.
At the same time, Poroshenko said that there is a Ukrainian transit pipeline, which is much cheaper.
“It is easy and profitable to upgrade. Just ask us, instead of investing ten of billions of euros in the “Nord stream-2”, – said the President of Ukraine.
We will remind, the company “Nord stream-2”, the founder and the sole shareholder of which is Gazprom, intends to start construction of the pipeline in 2018, and complete it before the end of 2019. The length of the pipeline throughput to 55 billion cubic meters of gas per year should be 1220 kilometres, it will connect the Russian Ust-Luga and German Greifswald, bypassing Ukraine.
March 27 Germany gave permission for the construction of “Nord stream-2” in the Baltic sea. The Federal office for shipping and hydrography of the country sees no obstacles to meet the request for the laying of the pipeline the seabed on a segment with a length of 31 km. 5 APR to it was joined by Finland, through the exclusive economic zone which is outside the territorial waters will pave 374 kilometers of the pipeline.
