With the Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew met the President of Ukraine.
Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew I congratulated Ukrainians with Easter.
“We pray for peace in Ukraine”, – he said during a meeting with President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko.
The head of state is in Turkey.
Poroshenko told the Patriarch about his trip before Easter to Mariupol and Volnovakha, where the people demand peace and the cessation of Russian aggression. In turn Patriarch Bartholomew thanked the President for his peacemaking, particularly the call for peace during the Easter treatment.
The President also noted the importance of establishing a Single national Orthodox Church in Ukraine, the aspirations of the Ukrainian people.

We will remind, a year ago, Patriarch Bartholomew has promised Ukrainians United Church.
“We pray that the Ukrainian people were United in one Church. The mother Church of Constantinople will help you to such a United Church,” said Bartholomew.
A year and a half ago , the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada Andrei Parubiy announced a visit to Ukraine Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew. However, the visit has still not happened.

“A certain package of our agreements we have agreed that it will not be announced. And we’re just going to implement it, not to stop on the way. We know how many there are opponents and enemies of the Association of Ukrainians in a Local Church. We know what a huge effort the Kremlin makes to this did not happen,” – said the speaker.
After that, the Russian Patriarch Kirill said that will not allow the independence of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the MP from the Moscow Patriarchate.
