Jens Stoltenberg insists on the importance of implementing the Minsk agreements.

NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg welcomed the outcome of negotiations leaders “channel format”, which was held on 19 October in Berlin.

He said this in Brussels after a meeting with President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko, UNIAN reports.

Stoltenberg stressed the importance of implementing the Minsk agreements, which he described as the only way a lasting solution to the crisis in the Donbas.

“All parties should implement the Minsk agreements – Ukraine bears responsibility for the implementation of the commitments, but Russia has a significant responsibility in this matter, because it continues to support the separatists,” said NATO Secretary General.

Jens Stoltenberg reiterated that the Alliance does not recognize the annexation of Crimea and Russia is very concerned about the destabilization in Eastern Ukraine. He assured that NATO allies will continue to support the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Ukraine.

Also Stoltenberg is convinced that the OSCE observers should have access to all the areas of the occupied territory of Donbass. In addition, he stressed the need to end violations “regime of silence”.

“We cannot allow this violation of the cease-fire has become the new norm in Ukraine”, – said the NATO Secretary General.

We will remind, on October 19 in Berlin, a meeting of leaders of member countries of the “Normandy format”. At the end of four hours of talks, the parties decided to develop a road map for implementation of the Minsk agreements, to extend the OSCE mission in Donbass and identify four new areas for cultivation of the parties to the conflict in Eastern Ukraine.
