Ukraine will receive 200 million Euro loan for the upgrade of public transport to 20 cities

The funds will provide the European investment Bank.

In 20 Ukrainian cities will update and repair the public transportation. 200 million euros will provide the European investment Bank.

The corresponding agreement was signed today, November 11. About it reports a press-service of the Cabinet.

“The document lays the Foundation for the support of local authorities and public transport companies in attracting preferential credit funds for updating of Park of trams, trolleybuses, buses, subway cars, building new and reconstruction of existing tram and trolley lines, traction substations. The project will improve the provision of transportation services and will ensure the stable functioning and development of city passenger transport”, – stated in the message.

Passenger transport, in particular, will be renewed in Kyiv, Bila Tserkva in the Kyiv region, Ivano-Frankivsk, Kremenchuk in Poltava, Lutsk, Lviv, Odessa, Sumy, Ternopil, Kharkiv and Chernihiv.

Funding is planned to be implemented at the expense of attracted loan funds EIB under the state guarantees in the amount of EUR 200 million, up to 22 years with a grace period of up to five years. Source of financing of the project will involve funds of the European Bank for reconstruction and development, local budgets and final beneficiaries.

European investment Bank plans to Finance the project 15 tranches over five years.

Loans will be returned from the funds of local budgets, because municipal transport enterprises are in their subordination.

Cooperation with the EIB Ukraine began in 2004, has signed agreements on 13 projects for a total amount of 2 billion 947,54 million euros.

We will remind, half a year ago it was about the allocation of EUR 300 million loan to upgrade transport.
