In the UN General Assembly adopted the Ukrainian resolution about human rights in Crimea.

The third Committee of the UN General Assembly endorsed the Ukrainian resolution on human rights in the occupied Crimea.

This was reported in Twitter of the mission of Ukraine to the UN.

Voted for the resolution, 73 countries, with 76 abstentions, 23 were against, the latter include Russia and Belarus.

“For the first time in documents of the UN, called Russia a country-occupier, Autonomous Republic of Crimea and Sevastopol temporarily occupied territory”, – said the Ukrainian mission to the UN.

The resolution reaffirms the territorial integrity of Ukraine, non-recognition of the annexation of Crimea, urges Russia to provide unhindered access to monitor the situation with human rights in the occupied Peninsula.

The document condemns the establishment of Russia in the Crimea of its legal system, which has a negative impact on the situation of human rights on the Peninsula. In addition, the resolution condemns the compulsory involvement of residents of the occupied Crimea to serve in the Russian army, contrary to the Geneva conventions.

Also in the resolution there is an appeal to the Office of the UN high Commissioner for human rights to prepare a thematic report on the situation in Crimea.

We will remind, the Belarus delegation at the UN tried to block consideration of the resolution in the third Committee of the UN General Assembly on human rights, which will address the Ukrainian resolution on Crimea. Belarus brought to a vote of the Committee is not to consider the agenda (no action motion). In addition to the Crimea, it was planned to consider the situation in the DPRK, Iran and Syria. But against the initiative of Belarus voted 101 member country of the UN, abstained – 37, – 32.
