The President will not attend the inauguration of the elected leader of the USA.
President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko may meet with the elected President of the United States Donald trump in February 2017, immediately after his inauguration on January 20.
This was stated by Ambassador of Ukraine to the United States Valeriy Chaly, reports UKRINFORM.
“It’s hard to imagine the visits immediately after the inauguration, so the job that was made in Kiev from the Ministry of foreign Affairs, presidential administration, I took to perform, we do. I won’t get ahead of ourselves, how realistic is this is a very ambitious task to do immediately after the inauguration, in February, the President’s visit, but having the previous experience of visits by the President (more than 50) in my previous position during the election campaign, I can say I don’t think this is unrealistic,” – said the Ambassador.
Chaly believes that now the main task is still not to arrange a visit Poroshenko in the United States, and to establish relations with the new US administration at the highest level and to discuss and coordinate the joint action of the two States as strategic partners.
“I can tell you this: I will try to arrange a visit as soon as possible, if it succeeds in February, it will be for us a great victory,” – said Valery Chaly.
The Ambassador also noted that Poroshenko will not attend the inauguration of the trump, because the U.S. is not accepted, the participation of leaders in such activities, UNIAN reports.
According to Chaly, at the inauguration of the American President, typically attended by the ambassadors of the countries.
We remind that on 15 November the President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko has held a phone conversation with newly elected President of the United States Donald trump. Poroshenko congratulated trump on his election victory and assured of his readiness to actively cooperate with the new administration of the President of the United States to strengthen strategic partnerships. Poroshenko and trump agreed to continue contacts, including holding a bilateral meeting. The Ukrainian President has invited elected US leader to visit Ukraine at a convenient time.
