According to him, it can undo all the progress made in Minsk.
The representative of Ukraine in the Tripartite contact group to resolve the conflict in the Donbass Leonid Kuchma said that expanding the format of negotiations due to the US or other countries will hurt the Minsk process.
He stated this in an interview with Focus.
“Attempts to expand the format of negotiations can discard or erase everything already achieved in the format of “Minsk-2″. I want to remind you that the Minsk agreement became part of the international legal instruments. They are approved by the resolution of the UN security Council. On them focused and refers the whole world”, – said Kuchma.
The representative of Ukraine at the talks in Minsk has added that the extension of the format you need is also the desire of other States to join the settlement of the conflict in the Donbass. According to him, the United States is not planning to do that.

“Something is not visible prospects and after 20 January 2017 (after the inauguration of the trump – Ed.). Obviously, this also applies to some other countries, including the signatories of the Budapest Memorandum,” he added.
Kuchma also noted that the experience of conflict resolution in Transnistria and Nagorno-Karabakh suggests that even advanced formats can yield real results.
The ex-President of Ukraine said that the Minsk agreement Kiev managed not only to stop a major war and achieve a ceasefire in Donbass, but also to enlist wide international support. In his opinion, necessary to do everything possible to implement the agreements reached, otherwise you may lose the support of the West and destroy the truce in the East of Ukraine.
“Today our allies in the West to exert political and economic pressure on Russia, demanding her full and unconditional fulfillment of the Minsk agreements”, – he said.

At the same time, Leonid Kuchma believes that the role of the Trilateral contact group in the negotiations process – support. The main thing is the Normandy format with participation of leaders of Germany, France, Russia and Ukraine.

According to Klimkin, Russia also hopes to replace the participants of the “Normandy format”.
