The Finance Ministry was instructed to issue bonds in the amount of 116.8 billion UAH for the salvation of PrivatBank

The repayment term is 15 years.

The Ministry of Finance is mandated to issue bonds in the amount of up to 116.8 billion for recapitalization of nationalized PrivatBank.

As stated in the government decree, the maturity – up to 15 years and interest rate should be set at a level no higher than 10.5% per annum with a subsequent payment on behalf of the state in payment for shares of additional issue.

In addition, the Finance Ministry was instructed to provide a transparent, managed, controlled and continuous operation of information technology systems and processes of information processing and coordination with the NBU plan for maintaining liquidity of the Bank. The cost of the acquisition of the shares will be provided by the state budget funds for its maintenance. The proposals for additional capitalization shall be provided within three months after the audit.

We will remind, in the evening of 18 December , the government of Ukraine adopted a decision on nationalization of “PrivatBank”. It is assumed that the state represented by the Ministry of Finance of Ukraine will become the owner of 100% shares of the Bank. It ensures smooth functioning of the institution and preserve the funds of its clients.

“PrivatBank” will be headed by former Finance Minister and one of the top managers in the 1990-ies Oleksandr Shlapak.

According to the NBU, their money in PrivatBank save a total of 20 million Ukrainian – is, in fact, half of the country. Among them, more than three million pensioners and half a million students. More than three and a half million workers receive salaries via PrivatBank. In addition, it imeye account 600 thousand enterprises and half a million individuals-entrepreneurs.
