According to Petro Poroshenko, the aggressor needs to feel a high price for the crimes committed on Ukrainian territory.
The UN General Assembly adopted the resolution “Situation of human rights in the Autonomous Republic of Crimea and Sevastopol city (Ukraine).”
About this on his page in Facebook said the President Petro Poroshenko.
“For” vote of 70 representatives of countries, against – 26 abstain – 77.
According to the head of state, now at the highest international level, the resolution gives Russia the status of occupying power, and it places all the responsibility for a gross violation of human rights in the territory of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea and Sevastopol.
“It is also an important sign of unity and solidarity at a time when the Crimea used the worst practices of the Soviet Union, including methods of “punitive psychiatry”, show trial, kidnapping, torture and even deliberate killing of people who openly oppose the Russian occupation of the Ukrainian territory”, – he said.
Poroshenko called the decision a demonstration of the broad front of support for international law and fundamental values of the postwar world order. “The aggressor should feel a high price for the crimes committed on Ukrainian territory. The most effective and only way to restore justice is full deokkupatsii and restore Ukrainian sovereignty over the Crimean Peninsula. The Crimea is Ukraine. We continue the struggle!”, – said Petro Poroshenko.
