The US state Department welcomed the new arrangement of “silence regime” in Donbas

The United States welcomes the agreement of the Trilateral contact group on the establishment of a new silent mode, which must begin at midnight on 24 December.
This was stated by the representative of the state Department of the USA John Kirby.
According to him, the United States hopes that a new truce would be a first step for establishing sustainable peace along the line of demarcation. The American government hoped that “silence mode” will last longer than Christmas and new year holidays.

John Kirby also said that now every day the Pro-Russian separatists fired at Ukrainian positions with heavy weapons. He once again urged Russia to fulfil its part of the Minsk agreements, to allow the OSCE mission to Donbas and influence of affiliated terrorist groups.

We will remind, participants of the Trilateral contact group regarding the peaceful settlement of the conflict in Eastern Ukraine agreed to cease hostilities in the Donbas from 00:00 on 24 December in connection with the upcoming holidays. This was stated by the OSCE representative to the Trilateral contact group on Donbas Martin Sajdik.
“On behalf of the trilateral contact group I would now like to make the following statement… We, the members of the Trilateral contact group and representatives of the ORDO and ORLO stress the need to ensure peace and tranquility for the upcoming holidays, we reaffirm our commitment to implementing a comprehensive, sustainable and indefinite ceasefire starting from 00 hours on 24 December this year at Kyiv time,” he said.
