Berlin confirmed that the meeting “Norman Quartet” in Munich

Foreign Minister of Germany , Sigmar Gabriel has invited the foreign Ministers of Ukraine, Russia and France for talks in Normandy format in Munich in Bavaria during the security conference.

This was announced by the speaker of Germany’s foreign Ministry on Wednesday, February 15, reports Deutsche Welle.

“The reason for this is the recent escalation of Avdiyivka near Donetsk. We will focus on the restoration of the cease-fire and withdrawal of troops and heavy weapons from the demarcation line”, – reads the statement of the German foreign Ministry.

It is noted that Gabriel will be present at the Munich conference on Saturday, February 18.

Earlier, the representative of the Russian foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova said that the holding of the meeting in the “Normandy format” on Ukraine at the level of heads of ministries of foreign Affairs is scheduled on February 18 in Munich.

In addition, the media reported that NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg will meet with Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko on Saturday, February 18 in Munich on the sidelines of the security conference.
