From a position of strength: the United States and NATO must defend itself in response to actions of the Russian Federation – the head of the Pentagon
The US and NATO are ready to dialogue with Russia, but to strengthen the defense in the conditions when Russia is violating international law.
This was stated by the head of the Pentagon James Mattis, writes UKRINFORM.
He also added that the United States wants to keep open the channels of cooperation with Russia and de-escalate the tension.
“We remain open to restoring cooperation with Moscow, however, realistic in their expectations and encourage our diplomats to negotiate from a position of strength”, – concluded the head of the Pentagon.

We will remind that earlier the head of the Pentagon James Mattis held a telephone conversation with NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg, in which he stated the importance of the Alliance for the United States.
They discussed the importance of shared values, the Minister stressed that the search for allies to protect these values, the US always turn to Europe.
