The deaths in the Donbass requires a redoubling of efforts to fulfill the Minsk agreements – EU representative
The EU believes that efforts to implement the Minsk agreements must be doubled.
This was stated during a meeting of the UN security Council, the head of the European external action service Helga Schmid, writes UKRINFORM.
“Security in Europe is based on the principles of sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity of States, inviolability of borders and peaceful settlement of disputes and the peace of country selection to determine their future,” said a European diplomat.
However, according to her, the conflict in Ukraine has shown that this is not always done.
“Our support for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine is inviolable. We condemn and do not recognize the illegal annexation of the Crimea and city of Sevastopol”, – said in this regard Schmid.
The representative of the EU urged Russia to use its influence on separatists to implement the Minsk agreements. According to her, the EU fully supports the efforts of the “Normandy format”, the Trilateral contact group and the OSCE presence.
“The ongoing collision (in the Donbas – ed.), the death of people in Eastern Ukraine require a redoubling of efforts to fully implement the Minsk agreements,” concluded Schmid.
