Yanukovych offered Putin to blackmail the Ukrainian government referendum on the status of Donbass

The former President of Ukraine Viktor Yanukovych in a letter to Russian President Vladimir Putin proposed to blackmail the Ukrainian government a referendum on the status of Donbass.

This is stated in the letter, published on Russia Today.

“In the event of failure of the current Ukrainian authorities of the Minsk Agreements, have to initiate a referendum on the status of Donbass.”, – Yanukovych offers.

Also, the ex-President wants Putin turned to the negotiations in the Norman format “representatives of the protesting parties representing the people of Donbass”.

According to him, he wants the cessation of hostilities in the Donbass, creating a broad autonomy for the Donbass within Ukraine, the reconstruction of destroyed territories and assistance to refugees and internally displaced persons.

In addition, the former President asks Putin to “demand from Ukrainian authorities to allow representatives of the special Commission of the Council of Europe and representatives of the current Ukrainian opposition to the monitoring of investigations into crimes committed in Ukraine since 2014 to the present time”.

“To restore peace and the rule of law in Ukraine is possible only under condition of objective and transparent investigation of the tragic events of February 2014, which gave impetus to the further escalation of the conflict, which escalated into a civil war in Ukraine”, – he said.

Recall that in the Kremlin commented on the desire of the former President of Ukraine Viktor Yanukovych to write a letter to world leaders.

“On mediation in resolving the Ukrainian crisis – I would have left it without comment. Of course, the role of the facilitator requires the consent of all parties to the conflict … You know it was Ukraine, there was a civil war. Russia is not a party to the conflict, so Kiev and the Donbass must first converge in this sense”, – said the press Secretary of the President Dmitry Peskov.

According to him, Russia, France and Germany are the guarantors of the Minsk agreements.

Yanukovych spoke again and said that writing letters to Putin and Trump. Eks-the President was going to send letters to world leaders with a request to settle the situation in Ukraine. His addressees – the authorities of Germany, France and Poland, as well as leaders of some European organizations. Separately among recipients Yanukovych said Putin and trump. The content of these letters did not disclose, but promised that later they will be widely available.
