“Blacklist”: in Belarus and Russia denied entry of thousands of Ukrainians

In the “Black list” of persons banned entry to Belarus and Russia, contains 300 thousand citizens of Ukraine.

This was announced by the Minister of internal Affairs of Belarus Igor Shunevich, BelTA TYT.BY.

According to him, only in the “black list” of persons banned entry to Belarus and Russia is 1.7 million people. 1.5 million were made on the initiative of Russia, 300 thousand of them – Ukrainians.

In addition, Shunevich commented on the detention in Minsk, Ukrainian writer Serhiy Zhadan at the direction of the Russian Federation, which occurred on February 11, 2017.

In particular, the head of the interior Ministry of Belarus said that he did not know about such writers as Zhadan.

“I would like to debate about the fact that he is a famous writer. I’m Ukrainian literature studied 17 years, but this name I hear for the first time,” said Shunevich.

According to him, the interior Ministry has the obligation “to identify such individuals and delay”.

“And detained because the police works well. And it happened at night, as information came in the night that in Belarus is the people associated with terrorism. To wait till the morning could not,” said Shunevich.

We will remind, on February 11, the famous Ukrainian poet and writer Serhiy Zhadan was detained in the capital of Belarus – Minsk, and held in a cell. About 2 a.m. on 11 February to a hotel room, where he was a writer, came to the Belarusian police patrol. Without explanation, Zhadan was taken to the station, where they began to look for his name in the database. According to him, after unsuccessful attempts, the law enforcement officers called to the KGB and sent him to another police station.

In the morning he was questioned about terrorism and at the end put a stamp banning entry to Belarus for an indefinite period. In turn, through the arrest of the famous Ukrainian poet and writer Serhiy Zhadan in Minsk , the Ukrainian foreign Ministry summoned the Ambassador of Belarus to Ukraine Igor Sokol. Subsequently, Belarus has cancelled a ban on entry Zhadan.
