The confiscation of Ukrainian assets is another proof of Russian occupation of Eastern Ukraine – Poroshenko

The President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko during a meeting with the UK Secretary of state for foreign and Commonwealth Boris Johnson and Minister of foreign Affairs of the Republic of Poland Witold Wasikowski said that the Kremlin continues to demonstrate the escalation of the conflict in the East of Ukraine.

About it informs the website of the President.

A growing number of attacks and victims among the civilian population and the Ukrainian military, the use of heavy equipment and artillery.

Poroshenko said that Russian President Vladimir Putin took a decision on the recognition of the so-called “passport of the DNI and the LC.”

“There was another gross and horrific violation of international law – was de facto confiscated by Russia, Ukrainian state and private assets that are located in the occupied territory. And it is further evidence of the fact of Russian occupation of Eastern Ukraine”, – said the head Ukrainian state.

The President added that this happens against the background of actual introduction of these territories into the “ruble zone”, the supply of gas and electricity from Russia, the introduction of direct budget transfers.

“It is absolutely clear confirmation of the fact of occupation of this territory by Russian troops, together with the full control of the state border in an uncontrolled area. In this regard, we underline that Russia bears full responsibility for violating the ceasefire, killing Ukrainian military and civilians, for the illegal detention of hostages, as in the occupied territories and in the Russian Federation”, – said Poroshenko.

The President has also called for sanctions against those who have misappropriated Ukrainian assets: “those who today will enter into the so-called property of confiscated assets, were jointly sanctioned for violations of international and Ukrainian legislation”.
