For the first time in the last two years the majority of banks predict a revival of lending
Over the next year in Ukraine should be accelerated crediting of population and business.
Such forecasts was expressed by the majority of top managers of Ukrainian banks said in a survey of the NBU.
“For the first time in the last two years, most banks expect the acceleration of lending during the next 12 months. This was stated by 88% of financial institutions surveyed by the National Bank of Ukraine from 22 March to 7 April 2017, versus 46% in the previous quarter. Also, 61% of banks expect corporate loan portfolio growth. From mid-2015, banks invariably expect the quality of the loan portfolio corporations and households will rise. Such expectations were expressed by 57% and 50% respectively”, – stated in the message.

The national Bank notes that the “demand for loans continued to increase in the first quarter as among corporations, and among households. Banks expect that the demand for hryvnia loans, as in the corporate sector, and the population will continue to grow in the second quarter of 2017”.
Banks have become more demanding when granting loans. Especially long-term currency and large enterprises. Banks predict that in the second quarter of the requirements for approval of applications for loans to businesses and standards of mortgage loans may become more severe. At the same time, the conditions for obtaining consumer credit might be mitigated.
Also, banks hope to Deposit growth.
In the survey participated 70 credit managers of banks, whose share in the total assets of the banking system is 97%.
