Tomorrow starts the festival of light and media art Festival, Kyiv Light
The festival will be held from 12 to 14 may in Kyiv with the support of “Kyivstar”. In the international competition of 3D mapping will bring together more than 25 works from videodesigner from 11 countries, including Ukraine. Your work I gave the video artists from Brazil, Germany, Indonesia, Spain, Mexico, Portugal, Romania, Chile, Switzerland and Japan. For a vjing contest which will be held on may 14, have filed 8 VJ of the two countries – Ukraine and Germany.

We spend the first festival of light in Kiev and were pleasantly surprised by the highest level of work. Among them there are real masterpieces. This is our first time holding a festival of light and did not expect that it will involve so much, a really strong creative teams.
The work of the participants of the competition program of Kyiv Lights Festival will be judged by an international jury consisting of experts of media art: the Director of the festival Visual Brasil, the repeated winner of competitions of vjing around the world Ricardo Cansadoknown as Eletroiman VJ, video artist, programmer and designer of interactive media Nicola Pavoneknown as Vj Luper, head of projection mapping Association of Japan Michiyuki Ishita, curator of the Open archive of Ukrainian media art, curated “New art school”, one of the most famous teachers of media art in Ukraine Yanina prudenko and head of Department of marketing communications at Kyivstar Yuri Black.
Opening the festival will be held may 12 at 21.00 at the Postal square. The audience expects a show drones and a grandiose 3D show on the building of the River port. Postal area will be the main festival venue, which will host the screenings of the contest works: the contest “3D-mapping” on 12 may, 21.20 23.00, and the contest of vjing 14 may from 21:00 to 22:30. VJ will be created in real time under the tracks, which the contestants hear the first time. Music for the contest specifically for the KLF has created one of the most famous electronic musicians in Ukraine Roman Cherenov aka Morphom. At the end of the contest, may 14, will be declared the major winners of the Kyiv Festival of Lights.
For those who cannot visit the 3D mapping on the first day of the festival, may 13 to host a retrospective of the work of the participants.
In addition to the Postal square other locations of Kyiv Lights Festival will be Kontraktova square, St. Michael’s square, Andrew’s descent, Port Creative Hub, Park Kyoto, a Department store and a Pedestrian bridge.
A real event for the KLF will be the participation in the competition program of Australian artist Craig Walsh. For the first time in Ukraine will be shown his famous projection on trees. Craig Walsh received the world popularity thanks to unique light installations, which he uses features of the environment. His work aroused great interest of the audience at festivals and visual arts exhibitions in Japan, Singapore, Australia, Germany, France, the UK and the USA. To see the installation will be on Kontraktova square.
Also in the framework of the Kyiv Lights Festival will host a number of other interesting events: at St. Michael’s square will be shown a light installation at the MFA building and the joint media project with 1+1 “Ukraine 360”, art port each day of the festival from 21.00 to 23.00 there will be performances from the Kharkov theatre of photo-painting is a unique modern art of Ukraine the phenomenon of combining digital and analog technology, on the facade of TSUMand will be shown light and music show, and a pedestrian bridge will turn into a dynamic installation that will constantly change color and light intensity. All days of the festival on the art port will take place the lecture program and practical workshops on wireing, videotaping, modern architecture and urban planning from recognized Ukrainian and foreign experts.
