“Ukrtransgaz” will become unprofitable, if Russia will reduce gas transit volumes – Prokopiv

If the transit of Russian gas through Ukraine to Europe will fall below 30 billion cubic meters per year, it will be unprofitable for the state of the company-operator of the gas transportation system “Ukrtransgaz”.

This was in Warsaw during the second Polish-Ukrainian gas conference said the Deputy Minister of energy and coal industry of Ukraine Igor Prokopiv, UNIAN reports. At the time Prokopov with scandal was dismissed from the post of head of “Ukrtransgaz”.

“In the state which is now “Ukrtransgaz”, we have calculated that the threat level will drop to less than 30 billion cubic meters of transit work. More than 30 billion cubic meters – we are profitable. But I said earlier, we are working on modernization and optimization in order to be prepared for all challenges,” said Prokopiv.
