Poroshenko expects the deputies of voting on the removal of immunity
President Petro Poroshenko expects the deputies of the vote and decision regarding the removal from them of Deputy immunity, once and for all to call themselves citizens of Ukraine. About the Ukrainian leader said on Wednesday, June 28, at the celebrations on the occasion of the Constitution Day near the monument to Pylyp Orlyk in Kiev.
“High profile case, decisive steps to combat corruption, which now shows the General Prosecutor’s office and the NEB, I remind all of us about such anachronism as parliamentary immunity. My project of amendments to the Constitution ready. It requires political will from the people’s deputies once and for all equalize itself to the rights of the citizens of Ukraine. Just as we lifted the immunity of judges”, – said Poroshenko.
In addition, Poroshenko expressed hope that soon the members will accept this decision.
“I hope that elected officials will soon decide. Because of them, certainly, there is no one who would not promise the abolition of this immunity in their electoral programs,” he added.
The President of Ukraine has told, that will soon end the contest in the Supreme Court. He expressed hope that soon there will be a complete restart of the Supreme court of Ukraine.
“The start of work of the highest court in the system of judiciary is our top priority in the upcoming weeks and months,” – said Poroshenko.
Recall that senior officials congratulated Ukrainians on the Constitution Day. The head of state stressed the importance of the Constitution, democracy, and recalled the reforms, the performance of which requires certain changes to the Constitution. In turn, Arseniy Yatsenyuk the day of the Constitution outlined his vision of the functions of the President, Parliament and government.
