Ukraine officially identified the accession to NATO is a priority of national interests

President Petro Poroshenko has signed the Law of Ukraine “On amendments to some laws of Ukraine concerning Ukraine’s foreign policy”. According to him, one of the priorities of national interests defined the integration into the Euro-Atlantic space of security , with the aim of gaining membership in NATO.

“To this end, Ukraine will intensify efforts from the entire set of reforms, including in the sphere of security and defense sectors to achieve compliance with the criteria for membership in the Alliance”, – stated in the message.

The law amends the Laws of Ukraine “On fundamentals of national security of Ukraine” and “On fundamentals of domestic and foreign policy” in terms of Euro-Atlantic integration.

The document was adopted by the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine on 8 June. Voted 276 of 357 deputies. Ignored the voting representatives of the “Opposition bloc”.
