Walker and marmots will discuss the issue of UN peacekeepers in the Donbass – former U.S. Ambassador to Russia

Special envoy of the US state Department on Ukraine Kurt Volker and assistant to the President of the Russian Federation Vladislav Surkov will meet in early October and will discuss the UN peacekeeping mission in the Donbas.

This was reported by former U.S. Ambassador to Russia John Tefft, writes “Kommersant”.

“Kurt Volker will meet with Vladislav Surkov in early October. We believe it is important to try to come to an understanding on the question of the mandate of a possible peacekeeping mission,” he said.

Last week, an informed source said that the meeting between Walker and Surkov can take place in the first half of October in the Balkans.

Sam Walker earlier told reporters in Kiev that at an upcoming meeting plans to discuss with Surkov, the issues of restoration of territorial integrity and security of Ukraine.

The first meeting Surkov with Volker held on August 21 in Minsk.

We will remind, earlier the President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko appealed to the UN initiative to deploy a peacekeeping mission in the Donbas. The Ukrainian side insists that the peacekeepers should be present throughout the occupied territory of Donbas, including Ukrainian-Russian state border.
