Russia decided to send troops to the Crimea to obtain a letter of Yanukovych – the interrogation Protocol Ponomareva
The invitation to the members of the Federation Council of the Russian Federation were sent before the advent of the letter of the President of the fugitive Viktor Yanukovych to Putin “on the use of Russian troops on the territory of Ukraine”.
This is referred to in the testimony of the former Deputy of the state Duma Ilya Ponomarev, who is considered one of the key witnesses of the Prosecutor General in the case of treason Yanukovych.
Protocol of interrogation Ponomareva from 19 December 2016 was published by the “Commander in chief” which was a copy of a document from a source in GPU.

So, according to Ponomarev, the Russian aggression was inevitable. “As I understand it from the point of view of chronology, the decision on convocation of the Council of Federation was made earlier than it is specified the address of V. F. Yanukovych From my friends the senators, who exactly at the moment I do not remember, I know that the members of the Federation Council phoned and sent out invitations to a specified extraordinary session of the Federation Council 28.02.2014”, – stated in the Protocol.
Recall that Yanukovych’s letter to Putin dated March 1, 2014.
Later in the interrogation Ponomarev indicates that the existence of the letter Yanukovych he became aware from reports in the media, and the copy he saw on March 3, 2014 during a broadcast of the meeting of the UN security Council: “I personally indicated for the treatment of V. F. Yanukovych, not seen, read about him in the media, and are also seen as Russia’s Permanent representative to the UN Churkin showed a copy of the statement at a meeting of the UN Security Council 03.03.2014”.

At the same time, a lot of public speaking Ponomarev somewhat contrary to his testimony, recorded in the minutes of the interrogation, the publication adds. In particular, in a recent interview, he indicates that he knew about the existence of the letter: “the fact is that Yanukovych wrote a letter asking to send troops. This letter has been shown publicly at a meeting of the Council of the Federation. Accordingly, we, as parliamentarians, know about it and testified that this letter was, that it was read… Yanukovych had no right to write this letter, because from the point of view of Ukrainian law, and there is a composition of high treason. And we, as witnesses talked about the fact that he was influenced Russia’s actions, which, in fact, is treason.”

In addition, it recorded in the minutes of testimony Ponomarev for the GPU in many respects similar to previously published copies of the interrogation of another former Deputy of the state Duma of the Russian Federation Denis Boronenkov, shot in Kiev, whom prosecutors called a key witness in the case of Yanukovych.
Voronenkov also in his testimony largely relied on media reports. Still in the process against ex-President fugitive, the prosecution was not able to use previously provided written testimony Boronenkov for the GPU. In turn, the lawyers of Yanukovych, who have access to all case materials and protocols of the interrogation, repeatedly used in the process of these contradictions or vague witnesses in his favor.
