Transparency International would seek the declassification of the decision on the confiscation of $1.5 billion Yanukovych
International anti-corruption NGO Transparency International (TI) intends to seek the declassification of the court’s decision on the basis of which was confiscated to the state budget $ 1.5 billion arrested in accounts of former President Viktor Yanukovych and his entourage.
About it in interview to “Ukrainian news” said Executive Director of TI Ukraine Yaroslav Yurchyshyn.
“I think it will be a long trial, but we will achieve opening (decision), because our lawyers believe that legal grounds for the closure of this there is no solution. There is a lot of manipulation regarding the fact that we supposedly demand to return the money to the owners, though is banal to read the suit, there is no other requirements other than opening information about the decision,” he said.

Also the organization believes that the European court of human rights may require the revision of Ukraine’s court decisions on confiscation.
“There is a great risk of appealing against this decision in the European court of human rights. Will it make lawyers for defendants in the sanctions list? It is a question. Taking into account the fact that the withdrawal of these funds were involved in offshore jurisdictions, it is likely that, in fact, they will challenge the decision. If, in fact, was committed procedural errors by the European court of human rights may require Ukraine to reconsider this decision,” he said.

According to Yurchishin, the prospect of challenging that decision in the appeal and cassation in Ukraine is small.
Earlier, Transparency International called on the Parliament to achieve publication of the court decision on the confiscation of $1.5 billion of Yanukovych.
