In Kiev, want to abolish free travel for MPs

The city Council proposes the Verkhovna Rada and the Cabinet of Ministers to abolish free travel for MPs and deputies of local councils.

Appropriate treatment, today, October 18, during a meeting of the standing Committee of Kyiv city Council on issues of local self-government, regional and international relations agreed capital deputies.

“In today’s conditions during the war in the East of Ukraine, deputies of the Kiev city Council, is considered inappropriate due to the state budget of Ukraine and the respective local budgets to ensure people’s deputies and deputies of local councils free of charge. Therefore, we propose to amend the current legislation of Ukraine, to abolish the right of people’s deputies and deputies of local councils to free travel”, – said the author of the initiative the Deputy of the Kyiv city Council Alla Shlapak.

Now also have to consider at the plenary session of the city Council.

Note, under current law, the estimates of VR allocations to each MP to compensate for the cost of travel on the territory of Ukraine.

In turn, the deputies of the local Council have the right to free travel by rail, road and water transport, regardless of ownership, as well as all kinds of city passenger transport (except taxi) on the territory of the respective Council.

We will remind that recently in the Parliament was registered a draft resolution, which may increase salaries for deputies of the Verkhovna Rada. It provides for a “set amount of salaries of people’s deputies at the level of the salaries of Cabinet members based on the size of the subsistence minimum established for able-bodied persons on 1 January of the calendar year.”
