The situation with Saakashvili is not worth the attention of the international community – Poroshenko

The situation with the leader of the “Movement novih forces,” Mikheil Saakashvili does not deserve international attention.

About it a few hours before his detention, said the President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko.

“The situation with Saakashvili does not deserve international attention. There is a specific crime, and we must ensure transparency of the investigation, the absolute transparency and objectivity of the investigating authorities. Transparent, effective and impartial Tribunal – that we must ensure as an independent state,” – said the head of state during his visit to Vilnius.

Poroshenko said that everything that happens to Saakashvili, is not related to his political activities.

“If someone is accused of crimes illegally crosses the border, escapes from custody, he must be held accountable. It has nothing to do with political activities,” – said the President.

“Law cannot be broken! If someone is funded by the aggressor state or its security services, the oligarchs in order to undermine social peace and stability in the country, – for it must be criminal responsibility,” – said Poroshenko.

We remind that on 8 December police arrested Saakashvili and taken to the detention center of SBU Askold lane. Prosecutor General Yury Lutsenko said that now planned investigative actions and appeal to the court concerning election of a measure of restraint for.

Policy is charged with assisting members of the criminal organizations. The sanction of article provides imprisonment for the term from three to five years.
