The evening of December 19, St. Nicholas Day on Sophia square in Kyiv took place the opening of the main Christmas tree. On the festive event was attended by hundreds of people.

Recall, 28-year-old spruce in Kiev brought from the Carpathians. On the way the tree broke off many branches and it was ugly. However, today she became a real beauty and shone with thousands of colored lights. It was decorated with 3.6 km of neon lights.
Also today between St. Sophia and St. Michael squares began to work new year’s the town where you can buy Souvenirs and various Goodies.
Holiday celebrations in the center of Kiev will continue for the next four weeks. The next major event and holiday dates – Christmas December 25, New year in the night from December 31 to January 1, Christmas on January 7 and Old New year on January 14 and will end when mass celebrations.
