First day new year truce, the militants fired at the Ukrainian positions on the arc Svetlodarsk

The militants are trying to disrupt the new year and the Christmas trucethat came into effect with the beginning of the day on December 23.

“Today, around 11.30 Russian mercenaries fired in the direction of position Armed forces of Ukraine on the arc Svetlodarsk. Armed provocation with rocket-propelled grenades, heavy machine guns and APCS were carried out not controlled by the Ukrainian authorities of the village Kalinovka. Return fire forces ATO is not opened”, – stated in the message.

It is noted that according to the intelligence headquarters of the anti-terrorist operation the Russian occupation troops and accumulated stocks of ammunition which are hidden close to the line of the collision in different directions. The purpose of these arsenals – open provocations against divisions of the Ukrainian Armed Forces and probable attacks on the temporarily occupied front-line settlements in the Donetsk and Lugansk regions during the Christmas truce, in order to provoke return fire and accuse units of the ATO forces supposedly in the breakdown of the truce.

We will remind that several hours before the agreed ceasefire , the militants continued to fire from the tanks.
