Head of Supervisory Board of “Naftogaz of Ukraine” has become the representative of Britain

The head of the Supervisory Board of the NJSC “Naftogaz of Ukraine”, the newly formed Ukrainian government, became a British citizen Claire Spottiswoode.

This was announced by Prime Minister of Ukraine Volodymyr Groisman.

“Congratulations to the newly elected head Clare Spottiswoode, which was responsible for the creation of a gas market in the UK. The creation of a gas market in Ukraine is goal of our Government. We are confidently moving forward!”, – he wrote in Facebook the evening of December 22.

The edition RBC-Ukraine, citing its own sources reported that Deputy Spottiswoode was elected Vladimir Demchishin, the Minister of energy in the government of Yatsenyuk 2014-2016.

As the newspaper notes, Claire Spottiswoode has years of experience in the oil and gas sector, in 1993-1998 worked in the national regulator in the UK. She is credited with a significant role in the creation of a competitive gas market at home.

The same statement was signed by Yulia Kovaliv, who then held the post of head of the Supervisory Board of “Naftogaz”. 3 APR Kuznetsov wrote a statement of termination of their powers as members of the Supervisory Board of the company on their own.

Charles Proctor at the beginning of September announced that he will leave the company on 30 September. 19 September, the independent members of the Supervisory Board Paul Warwick and Marcus Richards has decided to retire.

In November, the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine approved the new composition of the Supervisory Board of “Naftogaz”, which entered Clare Spottiswoode (leading energy expert, United Kingdom), Bruno Liska (ex-head of a large energy company, France), Amos Hochstein (diplomat, USA), Steve Heisen (expert in gas exploration and production, Canada), and three Ukrainians – Oleksandr Hrytsenko (the Chairman of the Board of “Ukreximbank”), Sergey Popik (Advisor to the Prime Minister on international Affairs) and the Minister (ex-Minister of energy and coal industry).
