“Twenty years of Ukraine was on the tip of corruption”: Poroshenko about Russian gas
Ukraine was 20 years of corruption on the needle, as well as in energy dependence from Russia, therefore, did not apply to international courts due to gas prices.
About this Poroshenko said during a visit to Odesa region.
“Twenty years of Ukraine was on the tip of corruption and dependence on the Russian Federation. All the time there were negotiations on gas supplies to Ukraine. All the while, blaming Ukraine – gas, we steal, we transit can not provide. What has happened over the last two years – we are energy independent,” – said Poroshenko.

He added that only during his presidency, Ukraine decided in a judicial proceeding to challenge a criminal the price of gas, because before that was in complete dependence on its Eastern neighbor.
“Why are we in court go now? While this was going on, this contract, and in court no one came. Because the needle was. And only now, we resolute actions won it, securing our energy independence, ensuring a fair price for all. This is an important victory,” the President added.
Now, according to Poroshenko, Ukraine can buy gas from who and where I want, looking for the best deals.

Naftogaz hopes to win a lawsuit and force Gazprom to pay for gas transit Ukraine $ 16 billion.

We will remind that on December 22 the Stockholm arbitration court officially confirmed that Ukraine is not Russia should return the debt under the contract for the purchase of gas. Besides, “Naftogaz” should pay “Gazprom” for the gas that is consumed the self-proclaimed republics “DNR” and “LNR”.
