A day without violations. OSCE declares about the beginning phase of escalation in the zone of ATO
The situation in the zone of the antiterrorist operation (ATO) is heated, the Special monitoring mission (SMM) of the OSCE captures the gradual increase in the number of attacks. Only one day was recorded 2 thousand violations of the cease-fire.
On Friday, January 12, at a briefing in Kyiv said the first Deputy head of the OSCE SMM Alexander Hg, reports “Interfax-Ukraine”.
“After the agreements on a truce for the holidays is enjoying relative peace. But there was not a single day without violations. The parties do not fully comply with its obligations… Now we can say that started a phase of escalation. This is evidenced by 2 thousand violations that our observers recorded from 17.00 Tuesday 17.00 Wednesday”, – he said.
Hg reminded that similar agreements already have been – the so-called Easter, school, bread of the armistice, and they were all the same pattern: a rapid cease-fire, followed by a gradual increase in the number of attacks. “All these ceasefire has had a positive impact. Local residents were given the opportunity to take a break from the shelling. But these periods lasted not for long,” he admitted.
First Deputy head of the mission was also informed that in 2017 observers recorded 401 336 thousand violations of the ceasefire in the ATO zone. “For comparison, in 2016 there were 320 130 thousand cases,” he said.
