Poroshenko has approved the appointment of new CEC members

President Petro Poroshenko during a meeting with Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Andriy Paruby signed the submission on the appointment of new members of the Central election Commission.

Poroshenko also signed a letter of resignation from office of members of the Central election Commission in connection with the expiration of their term of office, according to the website of the President.

The President stressed that the question of the formation of the new composition of the Central election Commission has been discussed for a very long time. According to him, the factions are actively discussing it, but the recruitment process was delayed.

“Today, I am glad that finally all factions, introduced candidates who meet all the criteria. I included in the presentation”, – said Poroshenko.

He also added that had the opportunity to discuss the formation of the new composition of the Central election Commission with non-governmental and public organizations. Poroshenko said that these organizations also support a speedy update of the CEC.

“I am confident that we are jointly responsible for proper conduct of the presidential and parliamentary elections. And so I hope that after the necessary procedures and special verifications, Parliament will be able faster to bring this issue to a vote and help shape the new composition of the Central election Commission”, – said the President.

In turn, the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Andriy paruby called a very positive representation of the candidates of the CEC members from the President, as provided by Law.

“I immediately give orders to the members of the CEC submitted for a special verification. Let me remind you that under the law it will last up to 15 days. This is the time that we have time (to inspect – ed.) before starting a new session,” – said paruby.

He also added that he would instruct the appropriate Committee to consider urgently the (representation – ed.) that we are already in February, came to a positive decision to update the CEC”.

Earlier it was reported that in June 2017 the Chairman of the Central election Commission Mikhail Okhendovsky has received 101 thousand UAH 813 salaries.
