Poroshenko spoke about his priorities as President of Ukraine

The fight against corruption in Ukraine is a priority direction of work President Petro Poroshenko.

He stated this during an interactive session on “Central and Eastern Europe: a new agenda for the continent?”.

“The fight against corruption is a priority of my policy as President. In Ukraine, created an independent anti-corruption institutions: National anti-corruption Bureau, a Specialized anti-corruption Prosecutor’s office. They work effectively with other institutions and are already yielding promising results. And it support both international partners and Ukrainians”, – he stressed, noting that there has also been judicial reform with the full upgrade of the Supreme court and the judicial system.

According to Poroshenko, the fight against corruption in Ukraine is not visa-free regime with the European Union or tranche of the International monetary Fund.

“On 22 December I initiated in Parliament the creation of a new anti-corruption court, which will complete the formation of the structure of an independent anti-corruption system. From a political point of view everything is clear. We have the political will and the decision has been made. From a legal point of view, the discussion of language and how to implement the recommendations of the Venice Commission – is the question of legal experts. We hope to complete this process as soon as possible”, – he said.

We will remind, earlier Poroshenko in Davos, said that it is working on changes to the bill on the anti-corruption court.

“We will continue cooperation with the IMF. I want to thank representatives David Lipton and Christine Lagarde, with whom we had a very important meeting and set a clear date – when and what needs to be done. On progress in creating the anti-corruption court – I have already submitted the initiative to Parliament and we will accelerate the process that should prepare the bill a second reading”, – said the President.
